LIFE LIST #393 :: try tofu

i know, i'm 25 years old and i just barely tried tofu!
FIELD NOTES:
this happened on a special APT 245 REUNION lunch!
ariana, lauren, cristina (in spirit), and i went to WILD GINGER in provo.
it's a relatively new sushi place that ended up being amazing.
as you can see, i tried the tofu in the miso soup.

RECOMMEND?
i can't say i was overwhelmingly excited. i'm interested in trying tofu in other forms. i had it on my life list because i thought it was creepy, but i'm happy to report it wasn't creepy at all. haha.

can we all just take a moment?
our servers name was PING!
i was dying. she might have been the cutest individual on this planet.

what are your thoughts on tofu?
any fun recipes?

  2. I love tofu! And I'm proud of you for trying it. I'm not the best at preparing tofu dishes, but I suggest trying it in a stir-fry or fried. I am from the South and we fully believe that everything tastes better fried, so maybe do that first. Let us know what you think!

  3. the wonderful thing about tofu is that there are virtually infinite things you can do with it!

    some of my secrets:

when preparing it at home, make sure to wrap it in paper towels and set a heavy book or something similar on top of it to press all of the water out. this is very important.

buying firm tofu is perfect for things like cutting it up and frying or even grilling with BBQ sauce. delicious.

silken tofu + melted chocolate + a splash of vanilla = delicious vegan chocolate pudding [and a great pie filling, too].

this is a very long comment, sorry! if you ever want any recipes, let me know or find me on pinterest [ohhellolauren], i pin tons of recipes there! xo
